American Medical Association members now have access to free continuing medical education online. The website is intended for primary care physicians but is open to all members.

The site, which was launched in March 2008, includes educational programs on depression, Parkinson's disease and type 2 diabetes, and features evidence-based information on diagnosing, managing and treating these illnesses. 

Additionally, four 90-minute educational webcasts are available on the AMA Organized Medical Staff Section's website: "Transitioning to an improved hospital discharge," "Keys to the successful implementation of the revised Joint Commission Medical Staff Bylaws Standard MS.1.20," "Creating a new future for a new day with a revamped organized medical staff structure" and "Physician hospitals of America: Reclaiming quality patient care through physician leadership."

Three of these programs provide continuing medical education credit.
